I’ve got the Nesco. Paid more than $100 for it last summer due to Covid surge pricing, but so far it’s been working well. I needed it then to help freeze a bumper crop of golden raspberries, and it worked well for that, also for dealing with good prices on food at Costco (where, BTW, you can get a good deal on a LARGE Read more

I love unorthodox screens and uses of monitor mounts. I had mounted a dollar-store 8x12" framed corkboard/whiteboard onto a spare monitor stand’s VESA mount, which worked great for post-its and leaving (and receiving!) quick, persistent notes, like TODOs or when I was stepping away from my desk.

I did something similar with my ultrawide, but I went with a small 8" DisplayLink screen in portrait mode, running a custom Dakboard configuration with datetime, my calendars, and weather.

I personally loved that game. It had that Arkham Knight style combat but if it wasn’t branded Mad Max it would have felt like a spiritual successor to Twisted Metal. Read more

It doesn’t get mentioned much because the overall story tends to overshadow it, but one of my favourite aspects was the nature of the melee kills. They start off quick and efficient, but by the end of the game they’re brutal curb stomps, and accompanied by comments like “just f***ing DIE!” from Walker. The progression Read more

Will throw my hat in on Sleeping Dogs as well. Still a solid looking game, well acted and engaging story, and the fighting system is slightly deeper than most for this genre.

Picked a pair up before Christmas as Costco for 85 bucks. I’m a big fan. They are pretty awesome for consuming media but are definitely not a replacement for studio monitors (if someone actually needs flat sound for music production). Read more

FWIW, I set it up (got it on Xmas, technically) and after a lot of futzing with the settings, especially on the Xbone (there was massive latency until I fiddled enough), I got it working.
While trying to get rid of the latency, I had to A/B a lot with the TV speakers and omg, what a difference. Yeah, I don’t know if Read more
