It’s funny, I’ve used these before, and while they are REALLY nice, they also were SO smooth that they caused my chair to roll to the side of my apparently-not-quite-level office every time I got out of it. On carpet I think they’re probably great...on hardwood floors, I might prefer high-quality casters to… Read more

Follow this man’s advice and GET A SPEED CUBE. The regular Rubik’s cube is, as far as I’m concerned, garbage. Speed cubes are so much smoother and easier to use, and you will thank yourself. (I still have my old Alpha V and love it.) Read more

Some of those have pretty high random read and write speeds, too. I doubt it’s worth the super high cost, as you point out—but still pretty neat to see. As always, these things will eventually come down in price and become the norm!

There’s a lot of stuff to talk about here but I didn’t want to get too into the weeds. Your example should not affect the vast majority of people, who only use one expansion card—if you get bumped down to 8x, it shouldn’t affect your GPU or NVMe drive. Read more

Haha, fair point. I don’t think there’s anything wrong, I think I just have my settings set in a way that elongates it on purpose. For example, I have startup turned off in the BIOS, since I do so much hardware swapping/tweaking for my job that it helps to see the POST screen for as long as possible, and enter the… Read more

These do not have any HRTF or virtual surround features. You would have to use the feature built into your receiver if you wanted it. Sennheiser’s RS 175 has a surround mode but I haven’t tested it myself. I tend not to like virtual surround features on headphones anyway. Read more

I have never been a fan of projectors. I get the appeal—you get a HUGE screen for a reasonable price compared to a similarly-sized TV—but as Tercius points out, there are definitely drawbacks. Watching them during the daytime kind of sucks, and I always found the contrast ratio disappointing compared to a good TV,… Read more

I have a 1TB cap, and the video doorbell has not been a problem. Though this could potentially depend on how much traffic the area in front of your house gets--I lived in a pretty quiet neighborhood that didn’t get a lot of foot traffic, so not TOO many cloud recordings from it. If you live in the city, I could see it… Read more

After having our garage broken into, we decided to get some security cameras, and they’ve actually been quite useful. We haven’t “caught” anyone yet, but if we do get burgled again, we’ll at least be able to see where the weakness in our security was by looking back. My friend was able to catch the guy who stole… Read more

I believe there’s an unofficial way to see your cameras in TinyCam, but otherwise no—this is like most other cloud cameras and only works with its own app. It does, however, have some support for the Echo Show (“Alexa, show my front door camera”). Read more
