I’m not the biggest fan of mud masks for two main reasons: they usually smell horrible, and they dry the fuck outta my skin. The Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask from Purlisse, however, didn’t check either of those boxes. And it exfoliated my skin to smooth perfection.
Most mud masks I’ve used had some ingredient from a far away land that is the secret to getting all the gunk out of your pores, and that ingredient ends up vacuuming out all the moisture in my skin too. The Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask somehow sucks up oil and debris (you still get those satisfying oil dots all over your face when it dries), but doesn’t crack like the damn Salt Flats at the smallest touch. Even better, your face doesn’t feel like it’s being tightened by a hand crank while it’s drying.
The Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask also works as an exfoliator, just dampen your skin with warm water after the 10 minutes is up and the gritty texture helps to loosen dead skin to be washed away when you’re finished. It also smells good, which is such an important thing that a lot of brands forget. This kind of mask is on your face for at least 10 minutes, most likely around your nose. It doesn’t need an added fragrance (not the best for sensitive skin), but maybe add a floral extract or something.
I’ve also fallen in love with Purlisse’s Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub, which makes my skin so freakin’ soft. I touched my arms so much after the shower that I probably defeated the purpose of it softening my skin, but it smells like brewed coffee and leaves a nice, moisturizing layer on your skin without feeling oily or sticky.
