Meta will be raising the price of the Oculus Quest 2 (aka the Meta Quest 2) starting August 1. The company has stated the reasoning behind the price change is “to continue investing in moving the VR industry forward for the long term.” It’s no secret that video game consoles are typically sold at a loss as the manufacturers expect to make their money on the back end selling software, though it is extremely unusual for a company to raise their console price two years after its release. Typically we get a price drop around this time but Meta has decided to do the opposite. If you’ve been curious about getting into VR, now is the time to pull the trigger before the price goes up.
