iOttie’s been impressing with its smartphone car mounts for years, so it was a little surprising to see the company release a Qi charging pad for home use. But it might just be the best one you can buy.
The iOttie iON Wireless Plus is one of the few Qi charging pads out there that supports 7.5W iPhone charging, the fastest speed Apple allows, plus 10W charging for compatible Android devices. But just like similarly specced pads from Anker and RAVPower, it does require you to use the included Quick Charge 3.0 adapter to deliver that power, so you can’t plug it into just any USB port.
The pad itself, though, is a stunner. It’s not trying to be unobtrusive and thin like other company’s chargers; its nylon-wrapped exterior is designed to be out on display. If not for the cord sticking out of the back, you might not realize it was even an electronic device at a quick glance.
$40 is a lot to spend on a Qi pad, but it’s not dissimilar from the non-sale prices of other 7.5W options, none of which look as nice or include an extra charging port.
