Let’s start off with what exactly an essence is before acknowledging the fermented elephant in the room. Essences are sort of the goldilocks between a toner and a serum, but could also function as a serum as well. Back to the products at hand. Yes, there is actually kombucha in this facial essence. No, it won’t make your face smell like somebody’s foot after hot yoga. The fermented black tea is balanced out with mandarin peel extract, Kigelia africana fruit extract, and some hyaluronic acid to boost your skin’s moisture content.
It promises smoothing of fine lines, refined pores, improved skin elasticity, refined skin texture, and over all healthier-looking skin. If I could articulate the sound that just came out of my mouth it would be pppbbbttthh. No one product does all of that. But, taking my skeptic hat off for a second (it was creasing my hair anyway), hyaluronic acid is proven to help with skin elasticity and moisture, mandarin extract has the vitamin C that’ll help with skin texture, and the fermented black tea will work on a detox of your pores. So in theory, it could do all of those things.
