I’m firmly of the belief that your car is the best place for a Qi charger, but if you don’t want to shell out $50 for iOttie’s (excellent) One Touch Wireless dash mount, TaoTronics now has a more affordable option on the market.
Anyone who’s tried both will tell you that iOttie’s mount is the better product. It has more angle adjustment options than the TaoTronics, including an extending arm, its fit and finish feels more premium, and its namesake One Touch clasping mechanism remains the best in the market. But TaoTronics’ mount is considerably cheaper ($30 vs. $50), its sticky suction pad seems about as good (though depending on your car, you may want one of these pads, which iOttie includes), and unlike the iOttie, it has two charging coils built in, which means you don’t have to fiddle with the mount’s “floor” to line up your phone properly.
It should also be noted that the TaoTronics mount doesn’t include a USB car charger, while the iOttie comes with a dual port model. But you’re reading this site, so I assume you already have one. If not, here you go.
So if you’ve got the money to spend, the iOttie’s still the Qi charger you should buy for your car. But if you don’t mind cutting a few small corners to save some cash, there’s now a second good option.
