Daily contacts are generally considered the most comfortable variety of lenses you can stick on your eye, and they’re absolutely the most hygienic, but most people—myself included—opt for biweekly or monthly lenses to save money. Hubble wants to change that by cutting out the middleman and delivering daily contacts directly to your door for a fair price, a la Warby Parker.
Hubble follows the lead of many other direct-to-consumer online business by only offering one product: Daily lenses. And if you have an astigmatism, or if your prescription is stronger than -12.00 or +6.00, you’re out of luck (at least for now). But if your eyes aren’t too terrible for Hubble to handle, the pricing can’t be beat: $30/month, or about a dollar per day. Plus, you can pause or cancel at any time, so if you’re only a part-time contact wearer, you could stretch a $30 delivery over several months.
That compares very favorably with name-brand dailies, and though it’s still a bit more expensive than most monthlies or bi-weeklies, the comfort and cleanliness can definitely be worth the price premium. Hubble also gives you your first 30 lenses (15 days) for free (other than a $3 shipping charge), so there’s little harm in giving them a try, especially if you’ve never used dailies before.
As with all eyewear, you’ll need to send Hubble an up-to-date and valid prescription to get started, but they’ll even refer you to a local optometrist if you need one. And while they don’t work directly with insurance, you can submit the receipt for reimbursement, and they also accept HSA and FSA payments, assuming your accounts are associated with a major credit card.
