I’m a big fan of everything Greats is doing, especially when they take risks and get weird. To that effect, here’s a boat shoe with a serious Vibram sole.
The Greats Windward sports a traditional boat shoe upper with actual thought given to support and ergonomics below deck. The Windward definitely toes the line of too weird, but getting cushioning (and comfort) from this category is basically unheard of, and in my estimation, worth the tradeoff.
That being said, these soles didn’t have to be super white, and I would have gone with the boldest brown and navy I could find, rather than the muted takes here. Visually, I prefer the three pinstriped Katama collaboration colorways as they better complement the sole.
