Notable features include a huge 30x optical zoom, 20 megapixels, 1080p 30fps video, and WiFi so you can upload photos to social media via your smartphone. If you’re going to ignore that you can get a micro four-thirds camera that is the same size and cheaper, then I’ll have to nominate the Panasonic LX100. It has dedicated manual controls and an amazing sensor and lens pairing. It’s also $780 :(

Panasonic GM5 or Olympus EPL7. Both are micro four-thirds. Attach pancake zoom. Have a 4/3” sensor and zoom for the size of a point-and-shoot. The Oly is a bit cheaper at $600.

Fuji X100s (buy it used.) Amazing image quality. Elegant, with a mostly analogue-like user interface. It’s not cheap, but iPhones take really good pictures these days. I’ve made 20x30 prints from mine; my FF Nikon D600 is better, image quality-wise, but not by a lot, and only with subjects that have extreme contrast. Read more

Honestly, the aging Fujifilm x30 has been pretty solid for my friends and I. Most of us have multiple cameras that vary from Rangefinders, SLR/DSLRs and capable smart phones, so it was difficult for us to justify buying another camera, let alone a digital P+S. However, the Fuji X30 has proven to be surprisingly useful

I mostly use a Canon EOS-M3 camera, with an adapter and a 55-250mm lens. Small enough to get through security, but full-featured enough to obtain great results.

Barring that, you’ll want to use one of those ‘superzoom’ cameras, like a canon SX60 HS. If only it had a sensor the size of a m4/3 or aps-c, I’d be on board.

Any Canon powershot with the HS system. The HS system is awesome in low-light, and most of the powershot cameras have a 24mm wide lens, perfect for selfies.

While i think the Sony RX100 IV is top dog and the Olympus tough cameras have great capabilities. I also feel the Fuji X100 series needs to be added to the conversation. With it’s fixed 35mm equivalent lens (23mm on APS-C sensor) and larger body, this camera seems to fit somewhere between the traditional point and
