Anker Wants to Improve Your Health With the Affordable Eufy BodySense Smart Scale

Anker already makes your favorite battery packs, charging cables, Bluetooth earbuds, and even desk lamps, and now they’re gunning for the fitness and health market with the Eufy BodySense Smart Scale.

If you’ve ever seen a smart scale before, you know basically what to expect here. It’ll weigh you, and shoot imperceptible electrical pulses through the bottom of your feet to measure your body fat percentage, body water, and other stats. And once it’s done sizing you up, it’ll sync all of that data to your phone over Bluetooth so you can track your progress over time.

Pairing with the scale for the first time was as seamless an experience as I’ve ever seen: It all happened inside the EufyLife app (iOS/Android), and I didn’t even have to open the Bluetooth menu in my iPhone’s setting’s app, which I didn’t realize was possible. Once you create an account for your home, you can also add up to 16 user accounts, so every member of your family can track their weight separately.

Unfortunately, at this time, the data has to stay inside the EufyLife app: It won’t export to Apple HealthKit or Google Fit, though I’ve been told that’s on the product roadmap. But the app is very well designed, and it visualizes all of your stats on a spectrum so you can see where you stand compared to people of the same gender with comparable heights and ages. I’m also a little disappointed that it uses AAs, which is a little surprising considering Anker’s expertise in rechargeables.

Quibbles aside, I’ve found that the BodySense works extremely reliably, it looks great in my bathroom, and most importantly, it’s backed by Anker’s legendary customer service. If you’re hoping to get a better sense of your health and maybe lose a little weight, this is the scale I’d buy.
