There’s pretty much nothing (besides more alcohol) we’d rather find in our glasses than beautiful renditions of America’s mountains.
2016 marked the centennial of America’s National Park Service, so we decided to celebrate the best way we know how: by raising a glass. In this case, Whiskey Peaks, a handsome set of four handblown whiskey glasses made from premium lead-free glass. - Huckberry
Huckberry sells a set of four rocks glasses, each featuring a different peak, for $70:
- Half Dome, Yosemite National Park
- Denali, Denali National Park
- Mount Rainer, Rainier National Park
- Mount Whitney, Sequoia National Park
North Drinkware, a Kickstarter success that reached the summit first, sells pints and tumblers with the same conceit:
- Camel’s Hump, Vermont
- Mt. Hood, Oregon
- Half Dome, Yosemite National Park
- Mount Rainer, Rainier National Park
The fact that there’s only a 50% overlap in mountains is a nice bonus, and North Drinkware also has a beautiful new “obsidian collection” on deck.
Both offerings are handmade, but it appears that only the North Drinkware set is made in America. North also claims their glasses are dishwasher safe, while Huckberry suggests handwashing. I put all of them in the dishwasher without issue, so do you.
In addition to the varying types of glasses, pricing is a major discrepancy here as well. As we said, Huckberry’s collection comes in at $70 for the set, while North Drinkware starts at $45/glass.
The glasses are far more durable than our beloved Bodums and Fellows, though they’re no good at protecting your hands from anything hot.
We recommend collecting all six mountains, however you want to go about that, and they’ll also make a great gift.
