You voted Breville’s Toaster Ovens the best in the business, and their latest, the Smart Oven Air, even replaces your dehydrator and air-fryer, along with your toaster (obviously), your oven (maybe), and possibly even your slow cooker.
The Smart Oven Mini I’ve had for years is a great alternative to my oven and microwave, but the Smart Oven Air makes me question why I even have a full size oven.
That’s a good thing, because the Air is huge compared to almost any other kitchen appliance. Like, nine slices of toast or a 14lb turkey huge. Integrated “Element IQ” technology is reminiscent of your microwave’s sensor reheat or dryer’s moisture sensor, and course corrects to ensure an even, complete, and efficient cook.
“Super Convection” via a two-speed fan gives the Air its dehydrating and air-frying powers, which is very welcome considering both those spaces are poorly supported by great products, and the options that are available can have huge footprints.
Another bonus of the Air (and previous high-end Breville toaster ovens) that we don’t talk about much is the ability to use it as a slow cooker by pairing it with a covered dish like Lodge’s Dutch Oven or casserole:
You probably already own a slow cooker like your runner-up Hamilton Beach that I used for years.
And even if you don’t, and you pick up the Smart Oven Air, the Instant Pot that you voted to victory is so versatile that it’s definitely worth owning anyway.
At this point, if we were forced to cut down our Sous-vide, Microwave, Instant Pot, and toaster oven arsenal to just one or two products, the decision would not be easy, and that’s the best endorsement we can make of Breville’s latest toaster oven- a category that used to be mostly a luxury or the domain of tiny houses.
