Most cold brew makers, like our reader favorite Takeya, submerge a removable coffee filter within a large carafe. The coolgear Bru brews directly into your drinking vessel of choice, including the 21oz double walled tumbler it ships with.
Cold brew coffee is coffee brewed without heat, not to be confused with iced coffee, which is a scam to charge people coffee prices for cups of ice.
The BRU offers limitless tweaking options for those who want them, but I got a great cup on the first try with the “staff pick” settings from the manual. In addition to dialing in your drip speed on the BRU, you also have the option of brewing inside or outside the refrigerator, with or without ice, and of course, changing the settings on your grinder.
While we don’t love the need for disposable filters on the BRU, it ships with 50 of them, and they currently retail for $5 for a 50-pack. Be sure to grab a bottle brush for easy cleaning.
