It’s probably not worth the space in your travel bag to pack a Qi charging pad...unless it’s also a battery pack.
RAVPower’s latest 10,000mAh battery pack isn’t much bigger than other 10,000mAh packs on the market, and yet its top surface doubles as a fully functional 10W Qi charging pad. That means you can use it to recharge your phone on the go even if you forgot your charging cable, though of course, Qi charging is slower and less efficient than plugging in your phone, so you won’t get as many phone charges out of the battery. But still, it’s better to have the option than to not.
Once you get back to your hotel room, it’ll also work as a Qi charging pad for your nightstand while plugged into the wall, meaning you can charge your phone and the battery at the same time with only one microUSB cable. The only quirk is that you have to click the button on the side of the battery to put it into Qi mode; it won’t automatically detect your phone like a regular charging pad. Not ideal, but hardly a dealbreaker.
You can definitely live without this on the road, either by packing separate battery packs and Qi chargers, or just slumming it with charging cables and forgoing wireless charging while you travel altogether. But even when you’re at home, you’ll be able to use this as a spare Qi pad, whereas most battery packs gather dust in your drawer, so there’s no real downside.
