Four Lucky Cities are the First to Get Amazon's 2-Hour Whole Foods Delivery

The most exciting prospect of the Amazon and Whole Foods merger was always that we’d finally get a viable, complete, fast grocery delivery service, and it looks like if you live in Dallas, Virginia Beach, Cincinnati, or Austin, you may have gotten your wish.

Amazon announced that from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 2-hour Whole Foods grocery delivery will be free for Prime Now customers, with a 1-hour upgrade available for eight bucks, on orders of $35 or more. As a result of this, Amazon may now have the best flower, alcohol, and coffee bean delivery service, in addition to groceries.

Fresh Direct and Amazon Fresh can be weirdly limited and wildly expensive depending on the item, coupled with frequent mistakes in your order, bad packaging, and often limited delivery slots. On top of that, figuring out if a grocery item is cheaper on Amazon Fresh, Subscribe & Save, Prime Pantry, or vanilla Amazon can be a daunting task.

I’ll check out Amazon’s new speedy Whole Foods delivery service when I’m at SXSW next month and report back, and lament that it’s not available in Brooklyn in the mean time.
