Having used the Blackbird on the AT for more than a thousand miles, it’s truly my go to solution anywhere there are trees. I’ve use the Henesey as well, but didn’t like it as much. I found the entry to be a bit gimmicky and no better than the Warbonnet. Also the fabric is not as nice feeling when you’re laying it for Read more

I got the 12" a few months ago and was at first somewhat put off by the rough looks of the thing. But after using it for a while, I am impressed by how evenly it heats, and it has not bowed up in the center, like other cheap aluminum pans tend to, even with frequent use at fairly high heat. The Dutchware Chameleon (as well as the Chameleon Wide) has my vote it’s symmetrical, has the option for both symmetrical and asymmetrical bugnets and top covers, peak shelves, and it works with Dutchware’s beetle buckle suspension that lets you use a spreader bar to hang two hammocks beside each other on the same

I recently received the Crua Hybrid!... it’s like a suspended tent and can be used on the ground or in the trees. Set up in 6 minutes and room to slate. It came with a self inflating mat and a 20 degree sleeping bag. I’ve used it a ton already. On the trail, at the lake, even took it to a music festival.

I’m just here to complain about how I live around joshua trees and only joshua trees, and if you tried to anchor a hammock to one it would destroy it/hurt you, probably, and I don’t really have anything else to anchor it to :( Boo hoo. Read more

Lots of great options out there but my preferred option is the Dutchware Chameleon. It has a zip in bug net and zip in winter top cover (can switch them out) and suspension hooks for underquilts (to keep them in place all night). Super comfortable.. Light weight. Great customer service (Dutch is awesome).  Just a Read more

20 combat boot years - rolled up to the size of a mans hand, synthetic (don’t recall mfg, but quality brand) - never failed.  Must admit getting a sleeping bag, let alone you in said bag, is comical as it’ll naturally fold tight. Once in it’s rock me all night! String a line between the rings for a poncho if dry is Read more

Coming in at a mighty 5.2oz. https://hummingbirdhammocks.com/shop/single-hammock/ I don’t normally sleep with any bug netting or rainfly (unless I know rain is coming). I have the following brands: Hennessy, Madera, Hobo, ENO. Read more

The Warbonnet Blackbird XLC is the clear winner here. Exquisite engineering, American made, quality materials. If you don’t know what a footbox is, you haven’t done enough research in the world of hammock camping. The asymmetrical design lets your foot hang a bit lower so your body isn’t lying like a banana all night

Have a YardStash IV. In place for 3 years now, all year long. Survived wind storms that took down a number of trees in my area, heavy duty rain and snow.
