Feathered Friends' Down Comforters Will Exceed Your Loftiest Ambitions

We believe in spending your money where you spend your time, so pay up for this cloud.

I’ve been sleeping under Feathered Friends’ Bavarian Light 850 Down Comforter for a few weeks now, and can comfortably say there’s nothing else like it- amazingly light, lofty, and silent.

Feathered Friends’ down comforter guide is a good primer on all things down, but to summarize, the “Bavarian” is the construction option that sleeps more cool. The other choice, “baffled box”, isn’t even available in the “light” designation.

The “850" is a measure of fill power. Higher numbers mean better insulation, more fluffiness, and loosely translate to better quality.

With the temperature hovering between 65-70 degrees in my bedroom and sleeping on a Leesa mattress and pillows, with no flat sheet, I tested the Bavarian 850 Light with both flannel and linen sheets. Of course the flannel was a lot warmer, but as a very hot sleeper, I found that I did overheat in the night a few times, even with the linen on.

But I’d rather open a window than kick off this comforter.

I’ll be sleeping under more affordable offerings from Snowe, Buffy, and Crane & Canopy soon, stay tuned.
