Western Rise has already been on the podium in three of our best-in-category clothing roundups (see below), and their latest venture, the Evolution Pants, don’t disappoint.
Western Rise is a fully established company, their campaign has blown through its goal, and I’m wearing the final version of these pants as I write this. You can preorder to save on a pair, but take note that the savings drop off steeply once the current tier sells out. Some of our other Western Rise favorites are also available at a discount in the add-ons section.
The Evolution Pants are a strong entry in the ever more competitive pants for all occasions category. You can wear them to a fancy dinner, hike in them, fly in them, and as I tried last night, comfortably lounge in them for hours.
Western Rise chose not to go nuts on the feature set of the Evolution Pants. There’s a hidden zippered pocket inside the right back pocket, sized for a passport or wallet, and an X-sized phone pocket inside the right front pocket.
The story here is instead in the material. The Supplex Nylon on tap is crazy lightweight, stain proof, soft, super breathable, stretchy, durable, water repellant, stain proof, moisture wicking, and I even found it to be dog hair resistant. I wanted to title this post “A Pant for All Seasons,” but the Evolution Pants are very cool and not what I’d want to be out in the cold in.
While the Evolution Pants are extremely comfortable, the fact that their waistband has almost no give is my main critique. These are not the most comfortable pants to sit in for a long period of time, say, on a plane, or around a campfire. Men’s pants have really gone from universally uncomfortable to spoiling us with stretch in just a few years.
In addition to being so versatile, the Evolution Pants are extremely flattering, sustainably-built, and include a lifetime warranty.
