So, it turns out you guys have pretty strong opinions about watches. As the sun sets on one of the most active Kinja Co-Op nomination rounds in history, four watches lived to see another day. Check out the finalists below, and don’t forget to vote before time runs out.
Seiko 5
I nominate the Seiko 5 SNK809, this is a 21 jewels automatic Japanese movement for at around $50. That’s right you get a legendary brand, automatic time proven movement and a fantastic easy to read face for about $50. Dress it up in leather, dress it down in a Nato strap. I’ve owned my Seiko 5 for about a year and it’s so versatile. It’s a great size for any wrist and I have no problem reading the time in full motorcycle gear night or day. - Rilver
Now and then I give Shep shit while buried in the greys for constantly pushing that crappy Timex when this Seiko is the clear winner. It’s a classy watch with a beautiful, QUIET sweeping seconds hand and automatic movement. It’s my daily wear and I love love love it. - MobbDizzle
Timex Weekender
It’s just such a simple watch that works. All you need is one (or a few) watches, and some straps, and you’re basically set for everything but formal. I’ve got several nylon straps, blue with red stripes for the spring and summer, brown and black for colder months, white for the beach, and a two leather straps, brown and black, and I’m completely set for anything I’m wearing that doesn’t involve a tie and lapels. Ivory face and navy face are all I’ve ever needed. And all told, I’ve spent significantly less on my Weekenders and straps than I have on my one dress watch. - Will-Ravel
Great watch for any age guy. I love how the straps let me go a little loud with color or just plain simple. Bought it for working around the house and found myself wearing it more and more. - Runsnakedwithknives
Timex Easy Reader
Less popular than its sibling the Timex Weekender, but the brown leather strap looks great with everything, and having the date on the face is extremely convenient. - Scott
God, yes. Just give me the basic, time, day and date and a battery that last over a year. Making it inexpensive is the icing to that watch. The only thing I would change is to make the hands pointy instead of flat. - Gogogadgetanything
Invicta Pro Diver Automatic
Automatic Japanese movement means no battery. I am very hard on my watches. I wear them every day. I only take them off to shower and to clean them. These just keep on ticking. The whole line looks much more expensive than it is. All can be had for ~$100 - No_I_really_am_serious
I have the 9206b Automatic Pro Diver and I absolutely love it. After two years of heavy usage not a scratch on the glass. Keeps time wonderfully. I even swim in the ocean with it no problems. It’s a poor man’s Rolex Submariner. - tzimed
