You guys had a lot of tea water to spill over seltzer. Everyone was thirsty to have their favorite brand represented, but in the end, these five bubbled to the top of the pack. Check out what everyone had to say, then be sure to vote at the bottom of the post.
Polar
This is the only possible answer. Any other answer is being given by someone who’s never had Polar. - Dookie Butts
This right here.
And screw flavors. You gotta judge this stuff by the base seltzer. Good seltzer should hurt. And Polar is more agressively carbed than most brands. Its good seltzer by virtue of being fizzy like real seltzer should be.
On top of that. Where flavors happen they’ve got that limited release flavor thing. Which appears to be a hilarious troll of the craft beer business that some how took off. Their Tonic is every bit as good as the expensive brands like Q and Fever Tree, but costs not more than any regular super market brand. They still make an orange dry, which yes please. Crazy good brand. And one of the few really old regional soda brands that’s still going strong. They’ve basically eaten White Rock here in NY, and with good reason. - Ryuthrowsstuff
Masshole, checking in. Thank you for saving me some time by posting this first. Polar is God-level seltzer. I got hooked earlier this year when I did “Dryuary” and needed something cold and bubbly to scratch that after-work beer itch. That blueberry tangerine is phenomenal but really, you can’t go wrong with anything in their lineup. At one point this summer, 70% of my fridge space was devoted to seltzer. Probably over 80 cans. It was glorious. Half of those were from Polar’s “seltzer’ade” line of bubbly. This stuff will change your life. - Number Five is Alive
Topo Chico
Topo Chico. Perfect amount of carbonation and the taste has just the right bite. - SPF H2O
A year ago, I had no time for carbonated beverages. Water or die. My husband purchased some grapefruit topos on a whim while I was out of the country this past January. We now have all three types of topos in our “water” fridge (it’s not a beer fridge because we don’t have any beer in it).
We also have several cases of Waterloo which I would argue is the second greatest sparkling water/seltzer/whatever pedantic descriptor you want to use. Topo is supreme but Waterloo has more flavors which are all equally great (except mango. If you like Waterloo mango, you’re wrong about life.)
What I’m saying is that two people now go through roughly 36 cans of seltzer a week and you can pry a topo with lemon out of my cold, dead hands. - SenatorDancergurl
Seriously, topo Chico is the best, it is super fizzy, and it doesn’t have that weird after taste that other sparkling waters have. - KSshim
Wegmans Sparkling Water
Cheap, good flavor selection, colorful cans.
Let’s be real: it’s stupid to be paying for water in the first place, so let’s pay as little as possible so we can somehow live with ourselves. Anyone purchasing name-brand seltzer needs to have a nice long look at the decisions they’re making in life. - Montro
Kroger Seltzer Water
I’m particular to Kroger’s own brand.
Raspberry is my favourite, with Grapefruit in close second. It’s more fizzy than LaCroix, so I find it more versatile with regard to adding gin or vodka to it. And it’s about $2.50 for a 12-pack, so it hits that golden intersection of effervescence and disposability.
Definitely kroger. I’m partial to just the plain, with a squirt of real lemon. Lemon and lemon lime follow, in that order. $2.79 now at my local Kroger because the stuff keeps selling out, so I end up buying like 6 boxes at a time. - Zipster
Vintage
Vintage Brand seltzer is the tops. It’s really just the right amount of carbonation in a classic bottle and size - works well as a serving for a long afternoon of desk hydration, or as a mixer for cocktails in the evening. - rvbee
Vintage a great kick in the nuts, real bite to it. -GuacamolePapi
