It’s casual Wednesday, so I’m talking about my favorite shirts that do not have buttons. The rules: no buttons, no branding, no white, no undershirts, no tank tops, no long sleeves, nothing that looks like athletic wear.

Buck Mason is getting me to recommend 100% cotton, so you know they’re doing something right. Their made-in-the-USA curved hem tees are available as crew or V-necks and in a wide variety of colors, and they’re thick without feeling too heavy. Pretty much the modern update to the cotton tee.

Tommy John’s Moroccan tees are ridiculous soft, fit just right, and look better and more thoughtful than a V-neck.

Composed of 57% Pima Cotton, 38% Modal, and 5% Spandex, these shirts retain their shape, won’t pill, resist wrinkles, and did I mention they were ridiculously soft?

Unbound’s V-neck, available in this stunning blue, is 100% unbranded merino, ready for wearing under a blazer, layering with, or traveling in.

Western Rise’s StrongCore Merino Pocket Tee is t-shirt perfection. Made of 89% merino, the StrongCore is simple, visually interesting, and the dropped tail hem makes me resent every shirt without one.

Civic makes it on to yet another Bests list with their Antoni Tee, a super soft, super light, perfectly tailored merino crew neck you’ll look forward to wearing, even on a plane.
