The Best Deals for February 16, 2015

Assuming you haven't frozen to death, here are today's best deals.

Every modem rental fee you pay to your ISP is padding for their bottom line, and a total rip-off for you. Fortunately, you can buy your own modem for a relatively small upfront cost, and knock a few bucks off your monthly bill.

There's a general consensus that Motorola's SB6141 is the best modem for most cable internet subscribers, but it usually runs in the $80-$90 range. Today only though, you can score a refurb from Woot for $55. It'll pay for itself eventually no matter what it costs, but this is a rare opportunity to save a decent chunk of change on this particular model. [Refurb Motorola Surfboard SB6141 Modem, $55]

Today's Amazon Gold Box Deal features a boatload of flash storage and chargers from PNY for terrific prices. It's all solid gear, but I'm particularly intrigued by the 128GB microSD card for $80, which is the best price we've ever seen for that capacity from any manufacturer.

As always with Gold Box deals, these prices are only valid today, but many of the items will sell out early. [Amazon]

This week on Amazon, you can score and Acer Chromebook 11 for only $160, down from $200. That price gets you Chromebook-standard specs: An 11.6" 1366x768 screen, 16GB of local storage, and 2GB of RAM. Granted, that's nothing spectacular, though its 8.5 hours of battery life is certainly above average. And of course, you get 100GB of Google Drive space for two years with your purchase, which is a $48 value on its own. [Acer Chromebook 11, $160]

Game of Thrones Season 4 comes out tomorrow on Blu-ray, and if it follows the same pattern as previous releases, the price will shoot up immediately, so take this as your last chance for a long time to secure a copy for $35.

Today on Amazon, you can score a 6-port USB charger for just $20, or bundle it with a variety of other accessories for $26.

iClever 6-Port 50W 10A Fast USB Desktop Charger ($20) | Amazon | Promo code | PORTSIX1.

Or, bundle it with the following for $26. Add both to cart and use the appropriate promo code.

Destiny's not a perfect game, but it can be really tough to put down. Plus, it was good enough to make Kotaku's 12-best lists for Xbox One and PS4. [Destiny, $30]

The standard Wii U Deluxe bundle is down to $260 today, including two games. Tax free for most. [Wii U Deluxe with Mario 3D World and Nintendoland, $260]

This isn't your typical tupperware. Pyrex storage containers are microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher safe. Science! [Pyrex Storage Plus 20-Piece Set, $27]

This little dongle plugs into your car's OBD-II port, and talks to your Android phone (via an app like Torque) over Bluetooth to give you driving stats, check engine light codes, and more. There are a lot of similar devices out there, but this one has particularly good reviews. [ BAFX Products BAFX3127 Bluetooth OBD2 Diagnostic Scan Tool, $19]

If you like to cook, here's your tax refund splurge for 2015. [ KitchenAid Ultra Power Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, $240]

Amazon's knocking $15 off the price of the excellent Fire TV again. Plus, if you sign up for Sling TV and prepay for three months of service, you can get an additional $50 coupon, bringing it down to $34. [Amazon Fire TV, $84. Or $34 with Sling TV]

We're not sure what the special occasion is, but there are a ton of Studio Ghibli Blu-rays down to $20 right now.

The Dyson DC65 was voted your favorite vacuum cleaner, though the biggest knock against it was its price. Well, $325 still isn't cheap, but it's about $100 off the usual selling price, and a bargain for an appliance you'll be using for years to come. [Dyson DC65, $325]

If you need another DualShock 4, you might as well get a game and charging station with it for not much extra money. [Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller with Infamous Second Son, $70]
