Apple’s aging 2nd generation AirPods are on sale right now for a whopping 37% off, putting them right at $100. That’s only $10 over the lowest price we’ve seen, if you want to believe what the folks down at Big History tell you. These are your standard AirPods—they have long stalks, you control them with taps or summon Siri with your mouth words, and their H1 chip allows you to do fancy automatic switching between Apple devices. You won’t, however, get features like spatial audio, which makes it seem as though the audio you’re listening to is all around you, and when you watch movies (on compatible Apple devices), it can anchor that audio in place, so that when you move your head, the sound stays put. It’s a neat feature, but not everyone likes it, and for those people who fit in the overlapping section of the Venn diagram that covers “people whose ears these AirPods fit in” and “people who hate spatial audio,” this is a pretty sweet deal. Really it’s a sweet deal on some backup AirPods anyway, inching their price into the impulse buy territory for plenty of people, including me on a good day. For the rest of you, Amazon also has the AirPods Pro and the AirPods (3rd Generation) on sale for $180 and $169, respectively, although the 3rd generation model isn’t listed on the landing page for this sale. That’s a much bigger discount on the AirPods Pro—a full $69 (nice), in fact—and with that you get all that stuff I mentioned above, plus noise cancellation. AirPods (3rd Generation) do away with noise cancellation, but otherwise offer everything the AirPods Pro do. Maybe now you can afford some AirPods and stop lying about your affinity for wired earbuds, you poverty-stricken nobody! I’m kidding, of course. That would be a horrible, incredibly tone deaf thing to say, or think, about people who don’t have AirPods, and no self-respecting writer would ever publish something like that, right?
Use this deal responsibly, but Samsung’s svelt The Frame TV is on sale at Amazon right now, with savings as much as 27% for the 75" The Frame—that’s good for $802 off the normal price—while the 65" model is 25% off its MSRP of $2,000 (although Amazon price tracker camelcamelcamel shows that it usually hangs out around $1,800 between sales. The 85" model is more modestly discounted, but buyers will still save $502 on that gargantuan TV. The smaller sizes are on sale for smaller discounts, but it seems like this particular sale is focused on moving the biggest models.
If you’re unaware, the conceit of The Frame is that it’s a TV that hides in plain sight, thanks to its ability to be mounted flush to your wall, its picture frame-looking bezels, and a mode that simulates wall art by cycling through various paintings and other artful images, including your own. Additionally, more art can be purchased piecemeal or via subscription, if you get tired of what’s in the catalog at the outset. The Frame is a 60Hz TV utilizing Quantum Dot technology for better color reproduction, and all sizes but the 1080p 32" model are 4K. Being part of Amazon’s daily deals, it won’t last long, so act quickly if you want to warp and bend your friend’s minds like so much putty.
Weirdly enough, when used correctly, a personal rowing machine is an extremely effective (and super-exhausting) full-body workout. I know this, because I alternated between being a useless bow seat and a terrible coxswain for like two seasons when I was extremely a shrimp in high school. That charming personal anecdote aside, if health and fitness are on your to-do list this year, you can’t get a better deal than the Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic Rowing Machine with LCD Monitor right now. It’s 44% off at Amazon, which is the lowest it’s ever been, meaning it’ll only cost you $225 to install one of these bad boys in your home gym, whatever that looks like. You can easily adjust the resistance with literally one knob, and it’s built to be moved around to your preferred workout location without actually scooching as you use it. The LCD display offers monitoring for your workouts, vitals, and general health tracking. Also, the slide rail can be adjusted to accommodate users of pretty much any height, which is neat. Just watch a quick YouTube tutorial first so you know how to maximize the workout correctly. There is, in fact, a strategy to it. Who knew?
Remember the good old days, when you’d buy software and own it forever? Well, Microsoft Office still thinks that’s how programs should be sold—or at least this one. The Home & Business bundle includes one license key for the powerhouse suite on Mac. That means you get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote—forever. For only $50 you can finally stop using that free program with weird file types no one else can open. Hooray! Save $294 today.
You’ve become very familiar and intimate with your pajamas in the last two years. Perhaps a little too familiar, in fact, and the accumulated stains, holes, and fraying edges represent a gathering call from their stressed threads: replace me, they say. Happily, Macy’s is selling men’s robes and pajamas for up to 60% off in this flash sale, today only! And with great deals on extravagant pieces like this $63 tiger-print collar Natori robe or this INC International Cheetah-Print set for $50, you can look almost as good as Glen Shadix in Demolition Man. And anyway, that tiger-print collar one is velour. Do you know about velour? Me neither, but it sounds like it feels great, and when people compliment you on it at the grocery store, you get to say, “Thanks! Its velour.”
Looking for something more standard? Okay, fine, then you might be into this Barbour laith pajama set—this tastefully plaid all-cotton set has pockets, and it’s half off at $75. Finally, this breathable Polo Ralph Lauren camo pajama shirt is discounted to $22, as is the matching pair of pants.
‘Tis the season for hitting the snooze button, and you’re about to want to more than ever. Right now, you can buy Hotel Sheets Direct 100% Bamboo Sheets for $55 on Amazon. The sheet set includes a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and two pillow cases, and no, it isn’t like sleeping on panda food or in the shelter from Survivor. Bamboo fabrication just means they’re made with 100% bamboo-derived viscose. Basically, the sheets are really soft, they won’t pill, and they’re thermoregulated to keep you cool throughout the night. So go ahead, give yourself an extra 10 to sleep in at 39% off. Your boss will understand.
I’m at the apartment with furniture. I’m at the apartment with floors. I’m at the combination apartment with furniture and floors. So I will probably end up buying this SlipToGrip Furniture Gripper Set from Amazon. It’s $12 when you use the promo code 25FFZWDQ at checkout (or should apply automatically when you click that link), which saves you 25% and ideally a lot of grief when you move out. The set includes four adhesive felt pads that are pre-scored for easy customization. Plus, your dad would be so proud to hear you bought them without him suggesting it. The deal ends 01/30/2022, so you have a few days to decide. But really, they’re one of those things that are just worth having around.
Sony WH-XB910N Extra Bass Headphones | $128 | Amazon
Sony’s Extra Bass noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones are on sale today only, with a $122 discount seeing them match their lowest historical price. Rtings thought these headphones were good commuter headphones, thanks to a very comfortable fit and nice, included hard case. Rtings also noted they offer heavier bass response than their predecessor, though active noise-canceling, while a nice inclusion this time around, was only middling in performance. They’re not going to be the ideal headphones for most audiophiles, but at $128, it sounds like you’re getting quite a bit of headphone for your dollar—I own the WH-XB900s, which preceded these headphones, and while I can’t speak to the noise-canceling ability of the new ones, and there are certainly other changes that I can’t speak to, I can say that if you like bass, the old ones go deep and will rattle your brain around in your noggin, so if these go even harder, great.
Many of us vowed to make regular exercise a part of our resolutions this year. Likely the same amount decided that 2022 was finally the year to get smart about money. So why not do both? The classic black BalanceFrom GoYoga Mat with Carrying Strap is down to $17 at Amazon right now, which means you’ll be saving 66% on a home gym essential. Also, since it’s on sale, you won’t feel as bad if you leave it in the corner, never to be unrolled. But if you do decide to use it (your body will thank you) (and have I plugged Yoga with Adriene enough in the few months I’ve worked here?), know that it’s an extra-thick, anti-tear, high-density mat that’s supportive and designed to last. Go ahead, kick off your week with a decision you can quite literally feel good about. There’s still time left in January to count it as following through.
In the long list of Switch ports we’ve been receiving since 2017, the latest release is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Originally launched for the Wii and built around the use of motion controls, the new version has added the option for just using buttons like a typical Zelda game. Many already playing are saying this along with some other quality of life improvements have elevated this game to one you should not pass on, so why not save $17 when you pick it up?
It is okay to treat yourself every once in a while. We’re always made to think that you buy gifts for other people, not yourself, but I’m here to squash that myth. It’s been a really hard two years! It’s okay to buy yourself a little something whenever you feel like it and call it a gift. In that spirit, you can currently get a $100 PlayStation Store gift card for just $85 at Eneba when you use the code JAN24DEAL100 at checkout. That’s a whopping $10 dollars of savings. That will get you all the way to a brand new full retail AAA game and then some. Also, nothing is stopping you from buying more than one card. Perhaps you’d rather stock up on indies or use it to clear out the digital storefront during its next sale. Maybe put some of it toward Hades because Hades is good. Hades is really good. The choice is yours. As long as you are buying video games, I am happy.
I’ve said it before, but gift card deals are truly my favorite. Writing that “you can buy a $100 Xbox gift card for $87 brings me such a weird joy. It’s like getting away with cheating on a test. For those who want to save a few bucks, head over to Eneba, grab a $100 Xbox gift card, and enter the code JAN24DEAL100 at checkout to get it for $100. A few fun things to note here: it looks like you can buy up to three and the discount stacks. That means that you can get $52 off $400 here, technically. Xbox gift cards also work on hardware, so if you’re thinking about getting a new Series X/S through Microsoft’s store (when you can finally find one), this is a roundabout way to save a little money on it.
I like knives, you like knives, everybody likes knives .... And forgets to sharpen them. That’s understandable! It’s a whole thing. Fortunately, the Longzon 4-in-1 Knife Sharpener is 34% off at Amazon right now, and it just may be the solution to that classic long-delayed task. Built to sharpen three types of blades and even one’s beloved kitchen shears (or “scissors,” I suppose, is what regular people call them), the gadget is portable, easy to store, and best of all, simple to use. It’s down to $14 and includes the safety gloves. I repeat: It includes the safety gloves. This means you need to wear them while you use it,
No, it’s not an iPad—but Amazon does right by parents with its Fire Kids Edition tablets. And they’re all on sale right now.
As you’ll see from the image, they’re wrapped in a thick rubber shell/convertible stand that helps protect them from dings and drops. Still, kids will find a way to break almost anything, and Amazon is ready there too. Each Kids Edition tablet has a 2-year worry-free guarantee, so if your child still manages to bust the thing, you’ve got a free replacement coming.
Amazon’s marketplace has a wide array of games, apps, books, and streaming services available, and the Kids Edition comes with the handy bonus of a year’s subscription to Amazon Kids+ (FreeTime Unlimited). The gated-off service provides a wealth of kid-friendly content within a colorful launcher, and then you can choose whether or not to pay monthly once the year is done.
Right now, Amazon is knocking $50 off the 7" tablet, $50 off the 8” HD tablet, or $60 off the recently-upgraded 10" HD tablet making it an ideal time to bring one (or more) of these durable devices into your family. Grab ‘em in multiple colors.
Allergies are a year-long struggle for some people. Whether you’re the kind of person who keeps a pet out of love despite the need to sneeze, or you’re just not keen on dust, the Levoit Air Purifier is an excellent little bit of tech that’ll help you breathe easy. This particular air purifier also happens to be 10% off at the moment, so you’ll be able to clean up the air in any room you want for cheap. It uses a method to do so that doesn’t use UV-C light either, which means it’s easier on the environment, which is a lovely bonus. Ahhhh.
Have you been just itching to get an Apple Watch Series 7, but the full price is a bridge too far? Well, lucky you, it’s on sale at Amazon right now for $50 off, or enough to pick up an Apple Watch accessory like a new sport loop band. Whether you’re getting a 41mm or 45mm, GPS-only or Cellular+GPS, you’ll save that fifty bucks, if you’re down with the green watch. If green fills you with rage, you can still get the Midnight or Starlight colors for the same deal, but only on the GPS version. Finally, the 41mm GPS-only version and the 45mm Cellular+GPS version of the (PRODUCT)red color are also discounted by $50, but only those two. Thank you for sticking with me on the details of this annoyingly specific sale, now let’s talk about why you want a Series 7 Apple Watch.

Even if you only buy Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow for the cute names of the pigments, it’s worth it. This palette has a futuristic theme, from its color names (Y3K and Not A Bot are my favorite) to the eyeshadows themselves. This palette is not known for high pigmentation, but you’ll get a range of holographic, shimmery, and matte colors that’ll bring your look into the 21st century. Plus, the whole palette is 50% off today, and you really can’t beat that.
Apple finally released colorful iMacs again last year when it replaced the long-in-the-tooth, tapered-edge all-in-one that preceded them with new, super thin 24-inch iMacs equipped with the new crazy-fast M1 processors. If that wasn’t enough, these computers came in all of the colors of the Apple logo rainbow, pleasing those who, like me, want options other than grey, white, or black for their tech. We haven’t seen much in the way of sales on these computers, which haven’t been on the market for a year, yet, so this $100 discount is a rare bone tossed to those who have patiently waited for some kind of a deal to act on—whether it’s just because they don’t want to drop that much money, or because they want to offset the annoyingly-expensive upgrade options for storage and RAM. All of the iMacs in this deal are the 8-core versions with four USB-C ports (two of which are Thunderbolt 4). If you like your computers green or silver, those models are on sale for $1,399 and come with 256GB SSDs. If you prefer blue, that one is equipped with a 512GB SSD. All of the models in this sale are limited to 8GB RAM, and if you poke around a little at any of these links, you’ll find others that are marked down by $50 in both 256GB and 512GB configurations.
The ultra thin and light MacBook Air, which received a massive update in late 2020 with the debut of Apple’s custom silicon, is on sale right now at Amazon for $100 off. For that price, you’ll get one of the most powerful CPUs on the market today, with 256GB of storage and 8GB RAM. This is just the 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU version, which has two USB-C ports on the side, one of which is Thunderbolt 4, and on the other side, you’ll find an honest to goodness headphone jack. It’s fanless and quiet, startlingly powerful, and has battery life that will make you question everything you know. Its 13" retina screen is colorful and bright, with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. Of course, this thing is a Jony Ive-era laptop, so although Apple finally fixed the keyboard with one that doesn’t fail after 2 years, the 2020 M1 MacBook Air otherwise pursues minimalism above all else. This makes sense for this particular machine, insofar as most people who buy these aren’t probably looking to do heavy Photoshopping or anything, but you’ll still have to buy a dongle to add ports to it, if you want to use more than one peripheral and charge it at the same time.
Sometimes, getting your project started is as simple as creating an intentional space to work on it. Whether it’s a terrifying novel made up of a single sentence repeated for hundreds of pages or an alcohol-fueled American classic that your late wife will eventually lose on a train even though it really wasn’t her fault, you need a dedicated space to write. This desk is perfect for small apartments, clocking in at just under three feet wide, and it’s lo-fi, so you don’t have to worry about smacking your knee on the corner of a heavy drawer every time you get up. If your desk is the last thing holding you back from writing (or drawing, or sending emails, or whatever you do with your day), treat yourself to a new workspace for just $48 today.
You’re getting ready to leave for a long trip, but there’s stuff sticking out of your trunk and it’s impossible to close it. Auto Store rooftop cargo carrier is the perfect item to solve this problem. This rooftop cargo bag is designed for vehicles with and without roof racks. This 16-cubic-foot roof bag stores your stuff safely and securely while on the go. It has tough Kevlar threads, heat-welded seams, and a waterproof zipper to keep your things dry as you race through those rainstorms (safely, please). The bag is engineered with nylon fabric and can withstand almost any element thrown at it. It’s a breeze to install and comes with a mat that goes under the cargo bag to stop any possible damage to the roof of your car. Save 50% today with the coupon and you’ll have an extra seat on your roof just in case your kids get annoying on the road trip.
Uno is a game we all know. It’s a card-based party game we play to damage lifelong friendships by playing down a Wild Draw Four card. Well, now we can permanently sever these friendships to an irreparable degree by playing a GIANT Wild Draw Four card. Giant Uno is like regular Uno, but more gianter. Over five times more gianter to be exact. But you can get it for the not-so-giant price of just $14. Just make sure when you are down to one card, you shout, “Uno!” loud enough that the earth rumbles and the giants who live in the clouds can hear you otherwise it does not count.
In November Rockstar released their first new GTA game since 2013. Well, not new exactly. It is a remasted trilogy containing old favorites—Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. While these games were adored upon their original release, the remaster can leave a bit to be desired. It certainly feels like a rush job from the absurd rain effects to the questionable art design choices. However, if that all doesn’t bother you, you’re in for a treat as the stories are still great and the trilogy is discounted now to $40.
Maybe my eyes are just getting old, but I can hardly imagine needing an 8K TV in my life. But would I buy one if it cost as much as a good 4K TV? Of course I would. What do you take me for, a nincompoop? If you agree, and you have more money than I do, Samsung would like to see you in its office. This 65" Class QN900A Neo QLED 8K, normally a $5,000 proposition, is marked down to $3,300 right now while supplies last. That’s practically flirting with 4K pricing territory for many mini LED sets, and with the money you save—if you want to look at it this way—you could pick up a whole ‘nother TV, and a good one at that. Like $1,700 is what some great 55" OLEDs go for.
Alright, let’s cut to the chase—having a million different devices plugged in to your TV just to stream your favorite shows has gotten really old. Smart TVs are the future, and Amazon has created a super streamlined version in the Omni Series. These 4K TVs come with all your streaming services loaded up, as well as an Alexa-powered remote for easy hands-free searching. The larger options also have Dolby Vision to enhance your experience of compatible shows and movies. Save up to 30% on select sizes today.
The Joy-Con is a wonderful idea, in theory, however, it trades ergonomics and practicality for versatility. It’s great that the controller can be split and in and then turned sideways to operate as two distinct controllers, but that means there are some weird limitations on both ends. Let’s face it, the four buttons as a D-pad work fine for games where the different directions are separate actions, but using it for platformers to move around is doodoo. Hori has thankfully introduced an alternative in their D-pad controller which does what it sounds like—replaces the four buttons with a proper D-pad. This one is also decked out in Zelda. You can get one right now for just $20.
For many folks, Animal Crossing came out at the perfect time. Early Spring, lockdown orders just went into effect. Many are out of work while also instructed not to go out and see friends or family. Animal Crossing came along and for a little while, it was the only routine part of our days. It was a wonderful distraction from our social world’s crumbling around us. Instead of seeing Debra at the office every day to chat about her kids, we saw Blathers to chat about bugs. Though eventually, like any game, lots of us got our fill and put it down to make room for something else. But our animal friends we made in March of last year are waiting to see us and catch up. From their perspective, we had just gone into our houses one day and never came out for over a year (which might not be dissimilar to our real-world experiences through 2020-present). So why not get this Nintendo Switch controller with K.K. Slider’s face on it and go tell him about it in person?
